If I take notes in Mantis is there any way to back them up, sync them, or export them so they are not lost? I take sermon notes on Windows Mobile devices now since I can sync them and back them up and would really like to know that my notes will be available for me if my device crashes. Thanks, your product looks exactly like what I have been looking for.

In version 1.0, the answer is no.  However, in the next release we plan to offer the ablity to sync your notes AND bookmarks up to our web site, where you can then download them into your word processor.  In addition (and I don't know if this will be in the next version or not) we plan to offer the ability for you to enter notes on the web site and pull them down to your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Is this feature currently available? I see that it is listed as a feature but can't seem to find the options here on the website or on my iPhone.

Yes, in version 2.0.0 and 2.1.0, if you go to the Notes list (or to the Bookmarks list) by tapping Notes or Bookmarks at the bottom of the main screen, you'll see a "BACKUP" button in the upper left corner.  Tap that to backup or restore your notes, bookmarks, and highlighting.

Current limitations of this feature are:

  • You must have a MantisBible.com user name (this is free, of course, and if you've bought any Bibles or anything else, you already have this)
  • You must have an internet connection, of course -- you can't back up to or restore from our web site if you can't reach it!

I am logged in with my account, but I cannot see where to access the notes I backed up from my ipod touch via the Mantis software???  Where is it on the website?

You won't find it on the web site!  Backing up and restoring happens on the iPhone (or iPod Touch.)  Just go to the Bookmarks or Notes list and tap Backup.  From there you can backup or restore your latest backup.

Can you export notes? Or more likely, given the limitations of the iPhone/ipod, can you send them as emails?

We have an online notes editor in beta now. Just back your notes up on the phone, then log into the web site and go to My Account / My Notes Editor.
