Hi

My Mantis Bible program automatically updated this morning. I was up early so I guess it was about 4am UK time.

At first it was OK. I checked out the new "box" feature (which I thought was very good!).

All seemed well, for about 5 minutes. Then the program froze completely. I can't remember if I closed it down, to start again (using the iPod menu button, or if it closed itself down. In any event, when I start the program now, the sequence that happens is as follows. The flash screen appears. Then, the main screen appears, as normal, but the screen then fills with text with slightly (but definite) more lag than usual. At present I have a bible loaded. So, the bible appears, but the program is frozen. If I attempt to scroll the text or press any buttons, nothing happens. It then shuts down.

The process of the program shutting down doesn't depend, at all, on whether I try to scroll etc. The program will open, then fill with text, and then, within just a few seconds, close down again.

I don't THINK I'm doing anything wrong. But I thought you should know, partly for info, partly to fix it, and mostly so I can use it. :)

Many thanks

Martin

Please contact support regarding this issue so we can work with you directly.

If you had a problem with a prior version crashing, then you'll probably need to delete and reinstall to get a fresh installation of 4.6.0.

Hi,

same situation here. The app is starting, windows is looking OK - no action can be taken, app shuts down after a few seconds.

Deinstalling, reboot and new install: Mantis is working for a while, can't tell how long, then app freezes, and I have the situation as see above.

I did the deinstall - reboot -install cycle a few times.

Any ideas? Need for more information?

ipod touch ver.3.1.2

best regards

There is a problem in certain countries that is causing this. You won't see this problem in the USA, Canada, or Australia, for instance. You will see it in The Netherlands, Norway, and South Africa, though.

It's a problem with the Apple servers in those countries, although we don't know exactly what's causing it.

Here's a simple workaround until the servers are fixed:

1. Delete and reinstall the app.
2. Do not tap on anything in the bookshelf screen under "Available for Purchase".

You CAN tap on any items "On My Device", or "Ready to Download."

As long as you don't tap on "Available for Purchase" items, the app will work fine. If you need to browse items, you can visit our online store here on this site. You can also purchase items from the online store and download them with no problem.

Technically, what is happening is that when you tap on an item that's "Available for Purchase" our app goes to the Apple server to get in-app purchase information about that item. We are receiving corrupted data somehow from the server in your area, and then we are storing that information to the device (so it comes up faster the next time.) This is causing the crash.

I am using Gen 2 Touch with 2.2.1 software and have tried updating from 4.5 to 4.6 and now the new version crashes. I am in the USA. Cannot get a work around. Tried deleting and reinstalling several times and even restore to original setup and re-installed still crashes.

Mantis requires version 3.0 or above of the iPhone OS. You will need to upgrade to 3.0 or above, then it will work fine.

Hi Mark

Any news on how fixing this problem is coming along? I find myself worrying every time I select one of my volumes, in case I accidentally press a black button, and freeze the program. It means that I am tending to use the program lees and less, which is a real shame.

I think it's probably also discouraging me from making purchases, as I tend to prefer to buy through iTunes directly.

All the best, and good luck

No word from Apple yet on this. We have implemented a workaround for this in 4.7.0, but we are not ready to release it yet, as it is still undergoing testing.
