Come on guys, the product design is flawless, the reliability is horrible. Every time I study the app crashes, NOT GOOD WHEN PREPARING for the messages.

Updates neve seem to solve the problem.

Have you tried rebooting? That seems to solve the problem for everyone we've talked to. To reboot, hold down the top button and the home button and keep holding both buttons until the Apple logo appears, then release both buttons.

The problem comes from the fact that Mantis requires a lot of memory for certain operations. The OS (iOS) is supposed to free up memory when it's needed. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work like it should and when memory gets low, crashes can occur. It's more prevalent with Mantis than most other apps because Mantis needs more memory (as it attempts to do some pretty complex things.)

You can also try double clicking the iPad's home button. Then holding down on one of the icons on the multitask bar until they shake and the - appears. Clicking on the - will close the app so it is no longer in the background. Closing games and other big apps can help a lot I have found.

As a side note I haven't had a crash since the update a week ago or so.

I must say I keep seeing it crash. I try all of the restarts and resets and still see the crashing. It is very annoying. I've been on 4.9.7 since it came out and I have seen a lot of crashes. It is just not stable but I continue to use it as my number one program. There must be something that can be done to stabilize it. I have invested a lot of money for lots of volumes because I really like the design.

I wonder if it would be any better on a iPad2. I have the original iPad.

The iPad 2 makes a huge difference, primarily because it has twice the internal RAM (512MB vs. 256MB.)

To help matters I thought I would delete the entire program and reload it. But that doesn't stop the crashes. I usually reset the entire iPad (double button) before seriously using Mantis. Still that is not enough. I try restarting it with Tool/Options.

Now I have another problem. Although I have turned off the triangle feature it acts as though it is on. I didn't have this problem until I delete and re-installed.

Do anybody have any other suggestions shy of buying an iPad2 ?

I have given up. This product is just not worth my time lost every time I study. There needs to be some serious changes for all us iPad 1 owners. I won't go buy a new iPad 2 just to use this software. As a businessman my customers hold me to the highest level of customer service, as a comsumer as well I get it. Im using PC Study 5 again.

I am still experiencing crashs. Just now I launched the program. Went to tool ,options and restarted the program from there. Went to Deut 2:30 in NASB and drilled a word looking the usage and FIND. Decided to go to Exod 4:18 when I did the whole program crashed. I see this a lot. Are there going to be any more updates for this program?
I am on the most up to date version.

This is strange. I'm not having these crash problems and I use Mantis daily to prepare messages.

Mantis is way better than PC study bible. But I don't run anything winDOZE anymore. 4 years of apple heaven.

I have noticed, on a fairly regular basis, that when I put a new reference in, Mantis seems to be turning there, then crashes. When I restart Mantis, it is now at the correct place! This does not happen all the time, but it happens a lot, and is rather frustrating.

I tend to use Mantis on my iPad (iOS5), but it also occurs on the iPhone 4S. I also have the most recent Mantis update.

I can't obviously see an answer in any threads (and YES, I have restarted both my iPad and iPhone).

Drew... (11/16/2011) - this is a common problem as you can see from the posts and their dates (and it goes back further than those posted). I had hoped the new update would correct it, but it doesn't. I still prefer Mantis over other apps I have, but I agree this is annoying. It looks like after this much time they would have corrected this.
