Mantis in iPhone Life Magazine!
The New iPhone Life Magazine Spring 2010 has a really cool write up called " A Day in the Life of an iPastor". Very cool title I must say. I picked this mag up while at MacWorld in San Francisco not far from where I pastor.

The Day in the Life of an iPastor was written by Pastor Kevin Purcell. He writes that he starts his day of with MANTIS! He writes that Mantis has the BEST Daily reading Plans and he likes plan 05 the best.

The write up goes through this pastors day detailing how his iphone helps in about every area of his life. Then he closes by reading MANTIS again. Very cool to find a write up about the BEST BIBLE STUDY APP EVERY.

Keep up the great work Mantis!

Trent Gilliam
Life Pastor

Thanks!

Kudos on one of best designed user interfaces I have seen and not just in bible software. The navigation using the corners is brilliant and the method for tagging verses is easy and unobtrusive. I might have to incorporate some of those concepts in my software development! (Assuming they're not patented, of course :) )

Mantis Bible Study 3.0.0 Uploaded to App Store

On Saturday, November 15th, we uploaded a major upgrade to the App Store. We have no idea how long it will take to be released by Apple, but in the past it's taken 5 to 7 days. However, we've heard from other developers that it can take up to 4 to 6 weeks at this time. Hope not!

Anyhow, here's the full list of what you can expect in 3.0.0:

New Grid Mode Navigator
Select book, chapter, and verse using list mode (the current method) or grid mode
Easily switch modes (list or grid) at any time

Bookmark Folders
 Create folders for bookmarks
 Edit folders
 Move folders
 Delete folders
 Move bookmark to different folder

New Search Options
 Search inside current volume
 Search your personal notes
Search scope (ALL, OT only, NT only, etc.)
Delete search results by swiping over them
Save search results as a folder full of bookmarks (* this is a huge new feature *)

Verse and Chapter Quick Scroll
Tap and hold at top right of reader screen to quickly scroll to any verse in current chapter
Tap and hold at top left of reader screen to quick jump to any chapter in the current book
(jumping to the bottom of a chapter now takes a second or two even in Psalm 119!)

New "Analyze Verse" Functionality
 Replaces "Compare Versions"
Allows on/off toggle of any installed translations
Toggle all translations on or off at once
Displays any installed commentary that includes the currently selected verse
Allows quick jump to any installed translation or commentary
(I've used this in a Bible Study, and it's wonderful!)

New Options in Setting Screen
 Toggle Red Lettering
 Toggle Paragraph Mode

Added confirmation dialog to clear history button

Fixed obscure highlighting bug affection certain words

Fixed for navigation problems throughout, especially affecting commentaries
(If you've ever been dumped back at Genesis 1:1 for no apparent reason, you've been affected by this. It's now fixed.)

Fix for truncated text in certain bookmarks, notes, and history

Fixed word-by-word highlighting to be one single block of highlight color

Purchase twice?

I have a question.
First, I have been using Mantis as my one and only Bible program on my iPad. I am a Pastor and I have several commentaries I like to use during sermon prep. I have these books in physical form but don't like hauling them around in my bag to get damaged. I am so blessed to have found them ALL on Mantis.

My question is this...and please don't think I'm trying to be cheap. I have already purchased these volumes for my iPad. Is there any chance I can now download them for my new Android phone without paying a second time? If not, I understand. Just wont be able to use them on the phone.

thought I would ask. :)

pastor Tracy

Background of highlighting

Love the App guys!!! Been using it for a year now, I have tried other bible apps but always come back to Mantis. Great work guys.

One suggestion I have and I don't know if others have the same want. On "Night Reading Mode" when you highlight something, the background is black and the reader words are white. So when I highlight the colors make it hard to read because the white is so close to yellow, blue, green, and pink. The contrast is difficult to read.

So my question is... Is there any way to change the reader color when you highlight like changing the font to black but keeping the background the color that you highlight?

Sending a bookmark folder as an email.

Being able to email a passage of scripture is great. I'm wondering if it would be possible to email an entire bookmark folder at one time? I'd like to be able to take the verses contained in the folder, copy them to a word processor and print them. This would allow me to create and save a hardcopy of verses used in a teaching or sermon. Do you have plans for anything like this in the future?

satisfied user

I've been an avid user of the Mantis bible software. At first on iPod Touch 1st gen. Later on came the iPad. I eventually sold my iPad and bought an Eeepad Slider as of November 2011. Unfortunately Mantis wasn't available for Android at the time. I'm glad it is now.

I especially like the straightforward approach of displaying different modules (dics, comments, etc) on demand. I also use Olive Tree but I personally find the hassling with different screens annoying. In depth study has never been easier with Mantis Bible Study Softwear. You've made it possible to really focus on God's Word with minimum distraction. I thank you for that.

I'm no pastor but a business owner. You can understand why I value the straightforward approach, here. I read a lot on my Kindle and use Mantis for studying purposes. Although I live in the Netherlands, reading in English has never bothered me or marred my perception of God's Word.

What is the logic for RP05? Why did you lay it out the way you did?

Mantis for iPad, your organization and the audio track has made it very easy for me to read the bible. And I appreciate this. Now that you have gotten me into this I am more inquisitive.
When I started and registered in April 2011 I selected the RP05 and it appeared that the design was to read from three areas or books in the bible. How did you select these three books or some times only verses, for that day?

My go to Bible study tool is Mantis

Hello Mantis,
Just a fast not to say thanks for all the hard work you guys put into your app. Mantis and the iPad have allowed me to study in all kind of locations. From airplanes to cruise ships. I won't admit whether I've used while running down the road on the way to preach. :) Love Mantis. I really like the way it looks and works. The layout is perfect for my "style" of study. Over the past three or more years I have invested a descent amount of money into the app and it's been worth every penny.

I'm looking forward to seeing what's coming (soon) to Mantis. New volumes and new features. It's a long wait but I'm sure it will be worth it!

Thanks Mantis for a great product. Keep those updates and volumes coming!

Rev. Trent Gilliam

Mantis-the best thing that happened to me in a long time

I just love the Word of God and have always carried a small Bible with me. Then I recently got myself an iphone 3gs because I wanted to read sermons using a pdf reader. Shortly after this I discovered that you could actually download the whole KJV Bible and use it just like you use your personal leather bound one. Mark it, highlight it, write notes on it etc. Wow what an unspeakable blessing this is!

There are so many free Bible Apps at the App store. But I like Mantis the best. Here are the two main reasons for it -One I can highlight a particular word in a verse like I do with my leather-bound Bible. Second when I write a note I can open it right above the verse and not have to go somewhere else to access it. There is just so much more that makes this Bible app my favorite. May God richly bless those at Mantis for making this Bible available for free.

I don't know why this Bible App is named 'Mantis'. The only Mantis I know of is the 'praying mantis'. May the good Lord use this Mantis Bible to get people to pray and seek His face in these dark times!

Love
Mike!

Great product!

Hi i have had mantis on my Iphone for a while, but only recently properly examined it, and I have to say im blown away by it!. It seems to be as powerful as desktop software which is remarkable and does everything I need it to, sadly it will take time to build a resource library through :)

I will be using it for sermon prep, great that I can begin to do these things on the road in a more powerful way (which is why I love the global notes feature), work full time, got a baby on the way, family to run, youth work to do..... and start uni for ministry training this September lol, so streamlining my time is pretty important, and the more I can do on the move the bettwe. So this app is fantastic, with time I can build a great library and do a LOT of study on the move.

So thanks for a great programme, will make a great difference to my study time :)

Thanks for a great year of Bible Study Mantis!

Hello,

I just wanted to thank you guys for making the best, most usable Bible I've ever had. I am pretty sure I've never had a better year of Bible study and it's thanks to the outstanding accessibility to the Word and supporting materials that Mantis provides. I'm afraid I'm guilty of overspending on Bible study resources first with books, then with desktop solutions, and possibly even with Mantis' resources. However, it has given me the basis to say that, for me, Mantis has provided the more accessible tools to drill down and study the word that I've ever had. To be sure there are still things I wish you had, but what you do have has allowed me to delve in more frequently, more efficiently, and delve in deeper than any other resource I've ever had.

I pray you continue to grow and thrive in 2010 and beyond so we can benefit from an exception resource you have provided. For now, though, I thank you for what you made possible in 2009. It was a great year for Bible Study thanks to your efforts.

Scott

I had to go to the esword forum and thats how came up with your site. Perhaps you've got to market more! (i'll definitely do that for this software too!)
