Do commentaries like Jon Coursin or MacArthur have an index to get to a note more quickly?

For example, Jon Coursin has many "Topical Study" notes I find interesting... but I wouldn't know how to find them. I did a search on the phrase "topical study", and that does find them, but that's a bit painful.

Commentaries do have a full-text index, so you should be able to search them just like any other resource.

Where or how do you find the index.

I thought it might be under something like Gen 0:0.

I find often have comments on a book and certainly a verse, but how do you find the index?

Ah, we're talking about two different things. An index is what allows you to search the current volume (via the search tool at the bottom of the screen.)

What you're talking about, a "table of contents" is available by tapping the volume name at the top. Once you tap the volume name, make sure you are in "table" mode, not "grid" mode by tapping the icon at the top left. This is the book, chapter, verse chooser. In non-Bibles, this will give you a 3-tier selector that lets you browse the topics covered by the volume.

This all varies, of course, based on the volume you are browsing.

Thanks. The Coursin Commentary, keyed by book, chapter and verse, has many entries labeled "a Topical Study". Like in John 5:*. They appear rather randomly. So the feature at the top of the screen is labeled by book, chapter and verse. I was hoping, other than a key word search, I could find these topical studies. I would think in the print version, he might have a table of content or an index to find them.

Any thoughts?

That volume currently doesn't have a table of contents that includes the Topical Studies, but hopefully we can add that in an update.
