I once had a Bible Application on a windows mobile device that allowed the screen to be split into 2 bibles that could be scrolled through independently or synced to the same verse at will.  This made it amazingly easy to: 1) view different translations of a text at the same time. 2) Click on a Strong's word and see the definition and cross links in the other half of the screen while still seeing the text in the main screen. 3) View a commentary on a text while still being able to read the text.  4) Click on a cross reference and see the similarities and differences in wordings.

I used this endlessly and have not seen it in any device since then.  On the iPhone, it would be extraordinary if this would be possible when you rotate the phone into landscape mode.

It was possible on the windows mobile machine...is it possible on the iPhone?

This is possible, but the difficulty here is how to implement it.  The problem on the iPhone platform is that you don't have a normal drop-down nested menu structure like you do on the Palm or the Windows Mobile platform, so finding ways for people to navigate options like this can be tricky.

We'll look into this, though.

Any word on this feature?  How about NIV?

Word on the NIV has been, thus far: "please wait."  We continually contact them, and they've told us to just be patient.  That's all we can do at this point.  Trust us, we're constantly contacting them.

As far as the other features you mention, we do the same things, only different.  We don't do multiple scrolling windows, but rather have an "Analyze Verse" feature that allows you to view any number of translations and commentaries for a single verse on the same screen.  This is going to change slightly in version 4.1, I believe when we offer integration of dictionaries, but, more on that later...

Our strongs number integration is done differently, too, and we feel it's better than the split screen approach.  At least, I like it better, and I've used software with the split screen approach for years.

You really have to see our strongs features to understand why its better.  Basically, with our 4.0 software (due out any day now -- hopefully early next week) you can:

View strongs numbers as numbers or as underlined word links.

Tap a strongs number or word to get the strongs dictionary definition IN LINE in the text.

Tap nested strongs numbers to drill down to the root word -- again IN LINE.

Tap to get a list of everywhere a strongs number is used throughout scripture, grouped by how many times it's used in each book.

Tap on any verse reference to preview that verse (IN LINE).

Tap on a link to jump to any verse you're previewing (to go read in context.)

Now, it gets even better in 4.0....

If any other strongs-based reference book is installed (currently Brown-Driver-Briggs', Thayer's Greek Defiinitions, and King James Concordance) you can tap to bring up that alternate definition -- again IN LINE.

Does it get confusing to have all this information right at your fingertips?  At first yes.  Until you realize you can tap again to CLOSE any item you've opened.

Why is it so important that we open things IN LINE?  Because you still have your existing Scripture right there, so you can view it right next to -- literally next to the scripture you're studying.  There's no jumping pages, no looking at two different screens, etc.  No back button is necessary because you never leave your place.  It's really a lot of fun, but you have to play with for a minute to see just how much fun.

We'll be doing a video of this very soon -- once 4.0 is approved.

This is why I went ahead and purchased Manits.  This is sooooo useful in church.  If you ever think about changing it, at least leave this as an option.  It is far superior in my book...
