It would be great to have both the Septuagint and the Ante-Nicene Fathers.

Will they be searchable? Or, even better with Strongs numbers?

Yes, they'll both be searchable. And yes, I think the Septuagint will have Strongs Numbers.

EDIT: The LXX also has parsing info in it.

Do you plan to make a bundle for any of these and the new Strogs-Cross Reference?

We'll be analyzing our bundles and adding new ones some time this month. If you have bundle suggestions, contact us at the support email and let us know what you'd like to see.

Just to clarify -- the Septuagint we're working on (LXXS) is in Greek, has strongs numbers and parsing info. I hope this is what you're looking for.

greek... since it's the septuaginta that's exactly what I mean

Re' bundles suggestions, I would put together the Septuaginta+Strongs-CrossReference+HOTS+a greek/hebrew dictionary
Though I already have the HOTS... I guess it wouldn't make sense for people that have already purchased any of them to get the bundle, or not? (trying to find an excuse to get the Strongs-CrossReference now, instead of waiting for an eventual bundle...)

thanks very much,
silvo

No, it's a Greek translation of the Hebrew.

English?? The reason people want Septuaginta is that the Hebrew original is not always clear and this Greek translation comes from the 3rd century BC(E) and they had better understanding of the ancient world than we now have. And Greek is somewhat more similar to our modern languages than Hebrew...

BTW There are also different sources, as the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensis or Codex Leningradensis stem from the near-eastern Palestinian tradition, but the Septuaginta from the Alexandrian tradition. And there are more texts in Septuaginta, e. g. the Book of Daniel contains more details, some other books are added, e. g. The Psalms of Solomon, Macabeans III and IV etc.

A question: are there those other texts, or is it just the jewish canon?
Thanks.

I don't think the version we're working with has the extra books, just the 39 standard ones.

We've been very frustrated by the lack of response from the NLT publisher thus far. It seemed we were very close to a deal with them, then we sat for months with no response. Then all of a sudden they were communicating again, then nothing again for months.

We continue to call them, email them, etc. but so far we're still waiting.

I could see why you guys would be frustrated. Man that's terrible. Prayerfully NLT gets with the program soon because it's getting rediculous

I purchased the Nicene Early Church Fathers when it was released thinking that it would include the Ante-Nicene Fathers. The description said that it included "writings from the first 800 years of the church."

Unfortunately, I did not read the fine print.
Only the Nicene and the Post-Nicene writings are included; NOT the ante-Nicene.
It is a bit confusing.

I'm not sure how much more clear we could be. Here's exactly what the web site says about it:

Nicene Early Church Fathers: 14 Volume Set
(Post-Nicene Series II)

The Early Church Fathers is a collection of writings from the first 800 years of the Church. This product contains the Nicene and Post-Nicene Series II (NPNF2), consisting of 14 volumes.

Set Includes:

* Volume 1: Prolegomena: St. Augustine's Life and Work, Confessions, Letters
* Volume 2: The City of God, Christian Doctrine
* Volume 3: On the Holy Trinity, Doctrinal Treatises, Moral Treatises
* Volume 4: The Anti-Manichaean Writings, The Anti-Donatist Writings
* Volume 5: Anti-Pelagian Writings
* Volume 6: Sermon on the Mount, Harmony of the Gospels, Homilies on the Gospels
* Volume 7: Homilies on the Gospel of John, Homilies on the First Epistle of John, Soliloquies
* Volume 8: Expositions on the Psalms
* Volume 9: On the Priesthood, Ascetic Treatises, Select Homilies and Letters, Homilies on the Statutes
* Volume 10: Homilies on the Gospel of St. Matthew
* Volume 11: Homilies on the Acts of the Apostles and the Epistle to the Romans
* Volume 12: Homilies on First and Second Corinthians
* Volume 13: Homilies on the Epistles to the Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, Thessalonians, Timothy, Titus, and Philemon
* Volume 14: Homilies on the Gospel of St. John and the Epistle to the Hebrews

We may do more of the Ante-Nicene series -- I'm just not sure how soon we'll be able to do them. Hopefully soon, though.

I am not complaining and I do not regret the purchase, as the post-Nicene writings are very interesting.

But I am not a Bible scholar and I did not know the exact contents of each volume. For example, Volume 3 says: "on the Holy Trinity, Doctrinal Treatises, Moral Treatises."

I assumed that this would include writings on these topics "from the first 800 years of the Church;" not just writings on these topics AFTER the Council of Nicea. I thought that "Nicene and Post-Nicene" meant before and after.

You state in your post that you may do more of the "ANTE-Nicene" series, but my point is that there are absolutely no ANTE-Nicene writings included; only POST-Nicene writings. I do think it is confusing to refer to this resource as an "Ante-Nicene series."

As I said, I do not regret buying this resource; it is very interesting.
I love my Manits Bible Study Software
It is my favorite application, and I use it every day.

I also appreciate the unbelievable effort you put in to making Mantis better and better.
Your customer service and willingness to respond on the forums is amazing.

Thanks,

Jeff

Thanks for you input -- we really appreciate it. We really want to do our best to make sure it's clear what each item contains. I'll see what we can do about the descriptions, and I'll also see how soon we can bring the rest of the Nicene series to Mantis.
