As I've mentioned in other threads in the discussion forums, I'm in the process of moving from a Palm smartphone to the iPhone and am looking to replace another Palm-based Bible product with Mantis. Within that product I had licenced (and depend upon daily) several translations and related works I don't currently see in your "supported" lists. Can you provide me your commitment to pursue and, if possible, any ETA on delivery of the following for use within Mantis:
- Translation: NIV (PRIORITY 1)
- Translation: NLT
- Life Application Bible (LAB) Notes (PRIORITY 2)
- NIV Study Bible Notes (PRIORITY 3)
- Nave's Topical
- A reputable Bible Dicitonary
I'm really enjoying the product. Your efforts are much appreciated. |

NIV is difficult -- the publisher is moving very slowly, but we are working hard on bringing the NIV to Mantis. We are closer on NLT and LAB, but have no eta yet. NIV SBN, I'm not sure about, but Nave's and other dictionaries should appear when 2.0 is released (within a couple of weeks, if beta testing goes well. |

I sure am excited about your 2.0 release!
Any new developments or ETA on getting the NLT? |

No word yet on the NLT, but we have a meeting with the publisher later this week -- I'll let you know what I find out. |

Here is another vote for NLT and NIV. Currently using NASB which I've always preferred for study, but NLT is better for just having a read (and my wife wants NIV) |

About a month ago I asked about the NIV and was told The publisher has not yet granted permission. Has anything changed? Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel? How much longer do you expect until an NIV / NIV (Study) & LAB are released? The product seems wonderful but not much use without these books. Thanks & God Bless you for the work your doing.

I wish I had more information at this point, but the publisher really hasn't given us much to go on at this point. The LAB will probably be available sooner, though, as those notes are owned by a different publisher. Hopefully, I'll have more info on that next week. |

On a different thread you suggested having customers contact Zondervan (nicely, politely etc) about moving forward with making NIV available. Is there still any benefit to doing this?
If so, can you narrow things down a bit? ZonderIvan is a pretty big organization. I suppose I could email Maureen Girkins and see if that would generate any interest.
This is a go/no-go issue for me for an iphone Bible. I like how your interface and features work, but I can't justify spending any money on translations until NIV is available. |

If you can email us privately at support@MantisBible.com about this, we'd appreciate it! |

Could you please give us an update on NLT, which is from a different publisher than NIV. |

I have finally recieved a reply to my email sent about 3 weeks ago to zondervan requesting them to supply rights to mantis for niv.. By the way I ama consumer and not connected to mantis in any way except that Ipurchased their software. Their reply was to direct me to another software application on the iphone that has niv!!!!!
I have re emailed the person at zondervan and re requested them to allow mantis to have their translation as the other software application is very limited. |

Is there anyone we can write or any way we, as users, can help get the publishers or the owners of the rights to NIV to work with you?? Your app is so out and away better than any other iphone app, I really prefer to not use any other app, but my family and church use NIV (even though I prefer NET). I'd be happy to pelt someone with e-mails for you. |

Feel free to email Zondervan, but be patient. They are reviewing our application, and have told us to basically "just be patient." Our originally application was sent in back in May, I believe, but they've asked us to file another one, so that's what we did. |

Why don't you buy out the Palm/Windows company mentioned (but not named, although there's no doubt who) in the top of this thread? They are struggling to get out an iPhone version and will have trouble competing with your excelent work. That would give you a presence on more platforms, access to their NIV and other licenses, and possibly give us access to books we purchased for the Palm on the iPhone. :) |
