Are in app buys of books somehow recorded by Mantis so they can be re downloaded later like when that book is updated? or during re-installs?

Yes. As long as you create a MantisBible.com user name and put that user name into your device (under Tools, Options, User Name) then all your purchases are "registered" on our server automatically, whether the purchase is made through the iTunes App Store, through in-app purchase (which also goes through your iTunes account), or through our web site. Then if you later get a replacement device (or you upgrade to a newer device) you just need to put your user name into Mantis on the new device, and all your purchases will show up as "Ready to Download" automatically.

If you've made purchases via in-app purchase and have not yet registered your device, you can do that now. Older "in-app" purchases may not show up on your account immediately, but eventually they will show up (email support if you need to speed up this process.)

Here's where it gets a little tricky: if you made in-app purchases on an older device that you no longer have access to (say, for example, it crashed and you got a replacement device) AND you never registered that older device with a Mantis user name, then our server doesn't know that you made those older purchases (at least it doesn't know YOU made those older purchases.) In this case, you need to go through the exact same "in-app" purchase process on the new device that you did on the older device. Be careful, though, because the key here is "exact same". If you purchased the NIV, say from inside the free version of Mantis, that's NOT the same thing as buying the NIV version of Mantis from the App Store. It's also not the same thing as buying the NIV from inside the ESV version of Mantis. Apple considers those as DIFFERENT purchases, and you'd get charged again. It's a little confusing, but that's how the App Store works. If you ever have any questions, email support and we can help you sort it out.
