Hi burggraf,

I want to give an unusual request to you. Before I get an iPhone I used my old Palm Tungsten T3 with "Palm Bible+" installed for bible reading. From this time I have some german bible translations I converted on my own for personal use, which was the killer-feature for me in Palm Bible+ (I bought some texts on CD called "BibleCard", figured out which database format was used and converted them).

Now I own an iPhone (which I won't miss again) and I was looking for a good bible reader replacement. Your application currently seems to be the best one in AppStore for me in functionallity and usability (the triangle navigation buttons are just ingenious!). But I'm not interested in english translations and the variety of german translations is rare. So I want to convert my files for your application. Could you imagine to officialy support this or answer me some questions about database format (already figured some things out)? Maybe if we don't have to discuss this in the forum, you can also drop me an email.

Thank you in advance,
Tobias

Can I put my vote for this as well?
I'd love to add my own translations (meaning translations that are not commercial)...

Thanks,
silvo

We are considering creating an import program that would allow you to import your own content.

Hello Mantis Team!

I am also native German speaking and want to explain to you the situation for Geman bibles on iPhone:

There hardly exist new/current German bible translations. Most of them are older than 20 years and also written in old grammar. The only store purchasing "accaptable", newer bible translations is "Olive Tree". But it's App "BibleReader" for iPhone is way to bad to seriously study the Bible. (They also have a "BibleReader" App for Palm and PocketPC which is very nice but that doesn't help iPhone users). So what are we pushed to do?

As mentioned from Tobias your Mantis App is nearly a dream! We would love to implement our Bibles into it!

Or would you think about offering/selling additional German Bibles? For example "Elberfelder 2006"? I know that costs to do so are probably high for online stores in general. I just want you to give you an idea of what potentional clientele you have.

Thank you for your time!
Best Regards: Beni

You can contact us at the support email address about this and we'll look into it. We'd need to contact the publisher to obtain a license, of course.

It would be amazing if custom content could be loaded in. I have several projects that I'm working on that I'd love to have access to from within Mantis. This is such a cool product - it reminds me of Logos for the desktop (at least, what I've heard of it). Any thought to partnering with them to get access to their 10,000 books?

We may offer support for custom books in the future, but there are no official plans just yet.
