Installing 4.5.0 goes fine, but as soon as I install additional books (in my case the CWS), the reader crashes a few seconds after starting it up.
It opens in CWS but a few seconds later: gone.

4.4.0 works fine.

I am confused. Can you give us step-by-step instructions of what is happening?

Are you saying that you can't open the app up at all now?

Have you tried deleting the app and installing from scratch (perhaps you had a corrupt upgrade?)

Hi again, sorry for the to little info.

I saw the announcement so I wanted to install 4.5.0. I have to tell you that I had all books on my iPod Touch with the free bible reader 4.4.0.
But in the very beginning I bought the Mantis NIV Bible Study in the iTunes store and THAT one was updated, so I decided to delete the free one 4.4.0 from the iPod Touch, and install Mantis NIV Bible Study (4.5.0) on the iPod touch and than I updated all books.
From there on the problem occurs.

The update process goes ok. I open the NIV 4.5.0 reader on the Touch, go through all the "Bibles", Commentaries", Media", Dictionaries" and "Books" tabs, selecting the downloadable books available in the "Ready to download" sections. Then pressing ok for each one.
After downloading all everything works ok. But the next time I start up the Mantis NIV Bible Study program it goes wrong.
The last opened book, in my case that is mostly the CWS study bible, is visable after the program has booted. But after a few seconds the program quits by itself.

I want through the deleting program, installing again, updating again process a few times, but with the same result all the time. I also tried it with just installing one book (the CWS study bible) but even than the reader crashed the first time I boot it from the Touch.

Without installing extra books the Mantis NIV Bible Study 4.5.0 works ok. It goes wrong after installing additional books.

I'm confused. Where'd you get 4.5.0? 4.4.0 is in the App Store.

Yes, it is in the iTunes store, but not the free reader, that is still on 4.4.0 since Apple has to approve it (as I read it on the news page on mantisbible.com).

Oops, I see the announcement on the home page now:

The Mantis Bible Study 4.5.0 Update has been released by Apple for most of our versions. The free version has not yet been updated.

4.5.0 and touch 3.1 installed NASS and
all other books down loaded and working correctly.
No more crashing in commutary chapter 0:0.
Did do complete wipe and load with only notes
saved.
May buy NLT also.

I've the free 4.0 app and today Mantis app has crashed. And don't work anymore. What 's happened ? until today it has worked well.

We have identified a problem with the way 4.5.0 handles in-app purchase information received from the Apple servers. Certain servers appear to be returning "garbage data" to the application, causing it to crash.

This only appears to occur in certain countries. It does not appear to occur in the USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, and several other countries. It also occurs for some people in the UK, but not others.

We are working on a fix for this and are testing it now. Once our testing is complete, we will submit the fix to Apple. (Hopefully within the next day or two.)

In the meantime, you can try using the app again later. If it still crashes, you can try reloading the app. If that does not work, you can try reloading your previous version from your iTunes backup.

We've had reports that this problem can even occur in 4.4.0 as well. 4.6.0 was sent to Apple last Saturday, so hopefully they'll release it soon.

Infortunatly, i've been in the obligation to reinstall the app. And since that it work well. But all my notes are now "...in the sky with diamonds". In fact now i'm afraid to register or bookmarks my notes because if a crash would become another time, it would be a pity. May be notes should be registered on the web independently from the app.

If you have backed up your notes, they are stored are on our server, independent of the app. You can merely restore them back to your device after you reinstall.

Note, however, that bookmarks and notes are stored on a "per-device" basis, so if you move from one device to another (upgrade your iPhone, for instance) you'll need to contact support so we can copy your backup file to the new device.

While we're at it- I have a suggestion for the installation setup, having tried now to get 4.5 to run and failed (for the record, 4.4 is always working with all content, given that downloading and installation is not interrupted):

- I already like the download queue per section, very convenient, but there could be an "install all available plugins for this account" option. If for whatever reason one has to reinstall the app without the backup, it would be nice to have a no-frills-push one button- restore of content to the device in how long it then might take ;-)...
