Mantis has started crashing every time I launch it. It launches and displays the last passage I looked up but none of the controls are active. Six seconds later it quits. Does it every time. No recent changes (added TDNT and Matthew Henry in October but they were working fine).

Have tried restarting my iPod, to no avail.

Using 4.4.0 on a French system.

What can I do?

We believe this is a problem with the app store servers in your country and have submitted an update to Apple to fix this.

Deleted Mantis, downloaded 4.4.0 again from the App Store; it works… so far.

BUT, when I reinstalled all the Bibles, etc. I had purchased previously, TDNT didn't show up as already purchased. Checked my orders in "My Account" and it is there, paid (10/8/09). How can I get it back on my iPod?

This is something you should contact support about.

After checking for updates twice, TDNT showed up again and I am back in business.

I spoke too soon… Mantis (4.4.0) started crashing again last night. Same scenario: the app launches, shows last page used, but it's impossible to scroll and all icons are inactive. After a few seconds, it quits.

I have reloaded again from the App Store and added my Bibles, commentaries, dictionaries. All except TDNT which doesn't show up… it is not even in the list of available dictionaries. I have not tried "checking for updates" as I suspect TDNT may be the cause of my problems. I will work without it for a while to see if the crashing has stopped.

Your problem is caused by the Apple App Servers in your country sending out bad information that causes our app to crash. We have uploaded an update to Apple that solves this problem but they have not approved it yet.

So if I turn off network access, Mantis won't crash anymore?

Yes. If there's no network access, it won't crash. But without network access, you wouldn't be able to download your purchases. Unless they were already installed from a backup.

Exactly the same case here !
I reinstalled Mantis 3 times, and once by donwloading the app from the AppStore after erasing the version I have on my computer.
But after few launches, the app crashes again on start up or few seconds after.
What is Apple doing with 4.5. or 4.6 validation ?

Reinstalled Mantis 4.4.0 and it has been running fine for four days now… with network access activated. But I have NOT used "Check for updates" or reinstalled TDNT as one of those actions (or combining) them leads to crashing (in France!).

4.6.0 came up on the French App Store yesterday. Installed it and updated purchases. It has been running OK: no crashes so far! (This version seems to load faster!)

There is a problem in certain countries that is causing this crash. You won't see this problem in the USA, Canada, or Australia, for instance. You will see it in The Netherlands, Norway, and South Africa, though.

It's a problem with the Apple servers in those countries, although we don't know exactly what's causing it.

Here's a simple workaround until the servers are fixed:

1. Delete and reinstall the app.
2. Do not tap on anything in the bookshelf screen under "Available for Purchase".

You CAN tap on any items "On My Device", or "Ready to Download."

As long as you don't tap on "Available for Purchase" items, the app will work fine. If you need to browse items, you can visit our online store here on this site. You can also purchase items from the online store and download them with no problem.

Technically, what is happening is that when you tap on an item that's "Available for Purchase" our app goes to the Apple server to get in-app purchase information about that item. We are receiving corrupted data somehow from the server in your area, and then we are storing that information to the device (so it comes up faster the next time.) This is causing the crash.
