Hi Folks, just purchased Mantis and it's great! I've been looking for so long for something like this (inline strongs references, BYOB), but have only found it now as I just purchased an iPad. Good work on this and thanks!

1) The main limitation I am finding is that I can only put in one note per verse and notes in folders cannot be accessed through the text - I would have liked the ability to put in say a general set of cross references, plus perhaps my own note and perhaps even another note/quote on the verse from another source - all against the one verse.

Now I can just type it all into one big note not in a folder, which is what I will do for now, but it would have been ideal if I could put my cross-reference notes into one folder (CREF), put my notes into another folder (EL) and put say other notes/quotes into another folder (MISC) and then have these appear as expandable options next to the verse through the BYOB functionality.

I did read in another post that access to folders was coming, was that going to be through BYOB? Is there an ETA on that?

2) The other thing I would ask, and from other posts it seems to be on the way as well, is that with the iPad's additional screen realestate I would dearly like the option to have upto three columns, which I can set the font size/width of at will. Some things I definately want to leave inline, but some things would be better for me in parallel in a seperate column.

For me, I would love to be able to have a left hand column for my chosen text (KJVS for instance, keeping strongs and perhap greek/hebrew refs in line); a smaller centre column for my cross-references - like in a normal study bible; then a right hand column displaying my notes or a commentary or another translation of choice.

I realise this is only likely to be usable in a 'landscape' mode on the iPad, so it would be nice if I could select a different display option for when the iPad is 'landscape' (this three column setup) vs 'portrait' orientation (maybe just one or two colums).

In terms of displaying notes/commentaries/another translation in parallel, obviously some notes could be quite large, it would need some intelligence in displaying to perhaps truncate the display of the note with a "..." so it didn't overlap another note in a subsequent verse or split the text into whitespace between verses to display the whole parallel item, but could be expanded at will...

Would this will be possible and any ideas on when any of the additional capabilities for iPad are coming out?

We are addressing the issue with notes in the upcoming 4.9.0 release, which should let you view multiple notes on a verse through a [NOTES] link in the BYOSB interface (where you click on the verse number.)

We're also working on additional iPad functionality similar to what you describe, but I don't have an estimate on when that will be ready.

I haven't had Mantis too but appreciate it very much.:) I too would love to have the option of side by side multiple panes on my iPad for so I could see my Bible in one pane and the commentary in next pane. You all have a great program.

The multiple panes version of Mantis (when it becomes available) won't be designed to do this. You can do this already by tapping a verse number, then tapping the commentary (or commentaries) you want to view. This puts the commentary right under the verse you're studying, and works great. (Plus it lets you view multiple commentaries at the same time.)

I hope the multiple windows on the iPad will be an option that can be turned on and off. I love the way mantis works opening in-line. My own personal taste does not like lots of windows crowding my screen. Now a note pad that shows up in landscape would be cool (to me).
