burggraf wroteWe are working on this for the 2.1 release. Actually in our first prototype we had a book, chapter and verse chooser that worked exactly like that, but one of our designers kicked it back because it "didn't meet Apple design guidelines." I think in our next big release (2.1) we will offer a choice of both options, the scrolling list, and the quick-tap chooser.

I realize that this may be speaking to choir, but perhaps something from a user and passed on to your designer would help :).
A big advantage of a Bible program like Mantis is the ability to quickly access any verse and be able to read it along with the preacher/speaker. By putting more on the screen, a matrix layout is a big help. (Olive Tree's BibleReader will access any verse in just three touches.) While Apple's "guidelines" may be OK for general use it gets in the way of rapid verse access for a Bible Program.
Alternatively, if your designer insists, you might replace the small "OT" and "NT" on the book screen with the major sub-division such as: "Pent," "Hist," "Poem," "MajP," "MinP," "Gosp", "Paul," "ALtr," and "Reve."
