References to Scripture inside personal notes are automatically turned into one-tap cross-references, but the scripture reference is repeated immediately after the one-tap cross-reference. So, as you are reading your note and you come to the cross-reference it would read something like this, "Lukewarm people call radical what Jesus expected of all his followers. James 4:17James 4:17." The first reference to James 4:17 is the one-tap cross-reference and and the 2nd James 4:17 appears as regular note text.

I cannot duplicate this using Mantis 4.8.7. Is that the version you are using?

I first noticed the problem when I upgraded to Mantis version 4.8.6. The problem still persisted when I upgraded to Mantis version 4.8.7. I am using a first generation iPod touch with version 3.1.3 operating system.

Can you list these things:

Which version of the Bible are you using?

What verse in the Bible is the note attached to?

What is the exact note you've typed?

Thanks!

I am using the KJV and NLT versions of the bible. The bug happens in both versions.

Following is the exact bible verses and notes from the Mantis Website note editor. The bug happens with every instance of a one-tap cross reference.

{Folder: Testing The Prophets}
{Isaiah 8:19} Some may say to you, "Let's ask the medium and those that consult the spirits of the dead. With their whisperings and mutterings, they tell us what to do." But shouldn't people ask God for guidance? Should the living seek guidance from the dead?
{Isaiah 8:20} How to test if a prophet is from God. A true prophet lifts up Jesus and his commandments.
{Amos 3:7} God does not do things without revealing it to his prophets (the flood, Israel's exodus from Egypt, Israel's Babylonian captivity, The beginning of Jesus ministry). God will continue to reveal his plans to modern prophets.
{EndFolder: Testing The Prophets}
{Folder: Lukewarm People}
{1 Chronicles 21:24} Lukewarm people give money to charity and to the church . . . as long as it doesn't impinge on their standard of living. If they have a little extra and it is easy and safe to give, they do so. After all, God loves a cheerful giver, right (Crazy Love)? Luke 21:1-4
{Isaiah 29:13} Lukewarm people attend church fairly regularly. It is what is expected of them, what they believe "good Christians" do, so they go (Crazy Love).
{Luke 6:26} Lukewarm people tend to chose what is popular over what is right when they are in conflict. They desire to fit in both at church and outside of church; they care more about what people think (like church attendance and giving) than what God thinks about their hearts and lives (Crazy Love). See also Revelation 3:1, Matthew 23:5-7.
{Luke 21:1} Lukewarm people give money to charity and to the church . . . as long as it doesn't impinge on their standard of living. If they have a little extra and it is easy and safe to give, they do so. After all, God loves a cheerful giver, right (Crazy Love)? (1 Chronicles 21:24)
{John 10:10} Lukewarm people don't really want to be saved from their sin; they want only to be saved from the penalty of their sin. They don't genuinely hate sin and aren't truly sorry for it; they're merely sorry because God is going to punish them. Lukewarm people don't really believe that this new life Jesus offers is better than the old sinful one. Romans 6:1-2
{James 1:22} Lukewarm people are moved by stories about people who do radical things for Christ, yet they do not act. They assume such action is for "extreme" Christians, not average ones. Lukewarm people call "radical" what Jesus expected of all His followers. James 4:17, Matthew 21:28-31
{EndFolder: Lukewarm People}
{Exodus 20:12} 1st command with a promise
{Matthew 28:19} God provides the power for this commission
{1 John 5:6} He came by baptism and by cruscifiction
{Revelation 8:2} Trumpets are a call to purity.
{Revelation 11:3} These witnesses are the book of the law (Deut 31:24-26) and the gospel of Jesus Christ (Matt 24:14, John 5:39, Acts 10:43).
{Revelation 12:1} In scripture a pure and chaste woman symbolizes the church (Jeremiah 6:2, Ephesians 5:25, 2John 1:1)
{Revelation 12:3} Satan is the dragon (Rev 12:9).
{Revelation 12:5} This man child is Jesus (Psalms 2:2-9)
{Revelation 12:6} Waldenses, Heugonots
{Revelation 12:15} Water represents multitudes, nation, tongues, people (Revelation 17:15). The devil flooded the church with compromising people to carry it away into apostacy.
{Revelation 12:17} The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Rev 19:10). God does nothing without revealing it to his prophets (Amos 3:7). The prophets who made a diligent search and inquiry into salvation prophesied of the grace that comes to us through Jesus (1 Peter 1:10). A prophet lifts up Christ (Deut 13:1-5) and his commandments (Isaiah 8:20). Christ's church has both prophets (Acts 13:1) and prophetess' (Acts 21:8-9). God says there will be true and false prophets in the end of time (Joel 2:28, Matt 24:24).
{Revelation 13:1} The beast of the sea is the fourth prophetic kingdom (Daniel 7:17, Daniel 7:23) and it rises up in a populated area. The sea (water) is symbolic of nations, tongues and people (Revelation 17:15). The 10 horns are 10 kings (Daniel 7:24).
{Revelation 13:4} Gggggggg (John 3:16)
{Revelation 19:10} The prophets made a diligent search and inquiry of salvation and prophesied of the grace of Jesus (1 Peter 1:10). A prophet lifts up Christ.

I just pasted your notes into my backup file, then restored them. I'm not getting the problem on my phone.

Have you tried to delete the app from your phone, then reinstall it? See if that helps.

Your references work find on my phone, and there is no duplication.

I sent photos of the problem to your support email. I have uninstalled the Mantis application and then reinstalled it. The problem is still ongoing. I will see if I have an older version of the Mantis app backed up and try downgrading to the old version to see if the problem persists. I have not done a factory restore of my ipod yet, but may head that direction if downgrading Mantis does not work.

I downgraded to Mantis Version 4.8.4 and the one-tap cross-reference feature worked properly. I then upgraded directly to 4.8.7 and the problem returned. The problem first appeared in 4.8.6.

As we've tested these notes and the problem does not occur in our tests using iOS4, it looks like an anomaly between iOS4 and 3.1.3.

iOS 4 only works with iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 3G, second- and third-generation iPod touch. Any plans to try to discover what is causing the problem? Or is iOS 3.1.3 considered too old for Mantis to maintain support and updates?

We are looking into this, but Apple is making it pretty difficult to support both 3.x and 4.x. We've had to change many, many things to fix things to work under 4.x. Once we get everything stable, we will try to make everything work the same under 3.x, though.
