Since the new addition of the "Mark" "Analyze" "Note" "Email" features and also all my concordences added it's REALLY been hard to keep truck of what's Scripture and what's a reference. I REALLY miss when you tapthe verse number the MENU would popup with all of your options. Is there any way, in a future update to make all of the "in line" additions an OPTION to turn off or on? The more user controlled preferences will make Mantis even easier to use and more enjoyable!!! Thank you for your consideration!

The old pop-up menu won't work. We're adding more options to it, and we'd run out of room. It's possible for us to put the options in a separate box (much like the new "boxed" inline options we have now.) Have you checked these out yet? Go to Tools, Options, Inline display options (it's pretty far down the page) then turn all the settings to "Boxed." I think you'll like this.

I just turned on all the boxes! Now that's cool!

I turned all to 'Boxed' and don't see a difference. I even took screenshots of the two and they look identical. Is there another option that either overrides or enables this one? I'm on 4.6.0 and OS 3.1.2

I see. It's not the icons that are boxed but notes, other versions, etc. It looks very sharp!

I have been using the BOXED features and still find them confusing. I have ALOT of the extra commentaries and then they are ALL in-line as options it's difficult to navigate back and forth. I came across one of the popup menus while using it when I tap the commentary again.
The proplem I am runnign across is losing track of what's text and what's menu. Navigating is just more difficult. I have twelve commentaries which take up almost four lines of text space. (I hope I am describing my problem appropratly.)
When I am done researching a specific topic, it takes alot of time to remember what to close in order to get back to where I was. I think having the OPTION of a more menu (darkened screen with different color options) driven study tool would be easier to navigate quickly.
I see how the inline options would be helpful also, but there is SO much inline on mine it confusing. Does this make any sense? =)
Thank you for taking the time to address my issues!

I'm a little confused about what you're asking for. Here are a couple of things that might help you, though:

First, if you go into Tools, Options, Build Your Own Study Bible, you can turn off some of the items you don't want to appear inline.

Second, you can shake the phone to close all open items.

Third, if you tap the verse number again, everything for that verse will be closed. Tap it again to option the available Bibles and commentaries.

Generally, what I do is open a commentary, read it, then tap on that commentary link again to close it. Then I open a second commentary, etc. (Mom always said -- when you're done playing with something, put it away before you get something else out!)

I am not seeing 'boxed' (again). I have turned all four Inline Display options to 'boxed' but when I open a second translation from within a verse it shows up in square brackets. What am I missing?

If you have them all set to "boxed" then when you tap on a verse number, then tap on a translation, such as [NIV], the verse should pop up in a box.

It doesn't. It only has square brackets around it. I've double-checked that Options are set right. I'll contact Support unless you know of some other option that may be overriding the boxed display.

This appears to be a problem only with certain devices and only after the user does a "Restore ALL" or "Restore Settings" from the backup screen. It appears something in the backup file is causing this. We're researching it now.

We're still researching this, but it's not a really big deal. It still moves the text to a new line like it's supposed to -- it just doesn't draw the box around it.

Hmmm, I thought when you said "If you have them all set to "boxed" then when you tap on a verse number, then tap on a translation, such as [NIV], the verse should pop up in a box." you meant it would POPUP in a box like the old MENU did from the bottom and be seperate? What did "pop up in a box" in a box mean exactly?

Thanks again for all you do Mark!

Sorry about that. "Pop up in a box" doesn't mean "pop up". The verse still appears in-line, in the same place. The "boxed" setting just moves the inserted text down to the following line (it starts a new line) and puts a box around it. For example:

Old way [>>KJV 1 In the
beginning God created the
heaven and the earth.] more
text here.

New way
--------------------------
>>KJV 1 In the beginning
God created the heaven
and the earth.
--------------------------
more text here

Hi:
I think I have the same issues as the others. I have been reading the posts and this is what mine looks like:

[>>KJVS - 13 I can do all things
through Christ which strengtheneth me.]
I can do all things through Christ which
strengthenth me. [Darb] [MCGE] [PNT] [TSK]

though it is set apart there are no lines as in your example.
Or is this how it should look. I have all the options for boxed checked, and my
iphone has been reset it has the most resent os. Mantis is 4.6.0.

Yes, in this case (as in the others) the text is set off on a separate line, but just doesn't have the box drawn around it.) We're still researching this.
