Hi:
Thought I would put a plug in for the developer. I agree whats inside is what counts. And when I saw the pattern in the background I didn't think of lizard skin, to be honest I really didn't think about it. I was too anxious to get into the works of the app and use it which is super. Thank you for the app and keep up the good work. Lets not get so nit picky we cannot see the forest for the trees. Also I am a pastor.

I would have to agree, I would really like to use this app as it seems to be a powerful tool. However for some reason I really dislike the black and green color scheme. Could you please change it. I know you mentioned it couldn't be changed but several of the apps on my iphone have had icon changes with updates so I know it can be done. Also, Mantis means "prophet" or "fortune teller" in the Greek. Why is that the name of your software, just curious? It seems like a very simple thing to change the color scheme of your icon, as it seems to bother several people. Thanks!

Honestly Gigi

Do you really think this developer is a "fortune teller" and is secretly encrytpting some sort of satanic design into his icon?
If so, why would you ever want to purchase Mantis software, even if the icon were changed?

This is the most amazing Bible software with unbelievable resources.
Personally I have been so blessed by this program and I know countless others have as well.

No, I do not think the developer is a "fortune teller". I never said that. I was simply curious about the the name chosen for the software. I do believe that symbols and names have meanings. And I think, wanting to know the meaning behind the name/sybol is valid question. It is obvious that I am not the only one with concerns, hence this post..
I think its something that the developer should address.
Also, I have not bought the software yet for this reason, but would like too, as it seems to be the best app for bible study yet.

Why the name Mantis?

Before the software was released, I asked a friend to create a bunch of sample icons we could use with the software. Most of them were the same basic icon (Bibles, crosses, etc.) But one that stood out was a little praying mantis holding (and reading) a Bible. We couldn't real tell what it was at first, but when it was explained that it was a "Praying Mantis"... we liked it.

Our "mascot" very early on was "Manny the Mantis". He was a cute little guy who liked to read the Bible.

Many people found the Mantis icon "too creepy" so we changed the icon.

The current icon is a cross illuminating some "living cells". The imagery, to me, is the cross "giving life."

As for the name Mantis -- we selected the name Mantis for a few reasons: it's short, it's easy to remember, it's easy to spell, and it's cute. That's about it.

I like the current mantis icon because it is special. All the other bible apps on the iPhone look the same. They all are the same in content too. Since, in quality and content, mantis stands out from the rest, I think in appearance it should do so as well. I like the green and black. When I swipe through my iPhone screens, the icon stands out as elite, set apart from the others.

I think it is silly to bicker about this.

James...

I agree 100%.
Leave the icon the way it is.
I have no business complaining about a product I have not even purchased in the first place so why even say anything?

I think the Icon is fine, leave it as it is!

Keep up the good work Mantis.

BTW, I thought the praying mantis asa a mascot was pretty cool, I saw it a very short time but I did appreciate it.

God Bless.......

Yes sir! I vote leave the icon the way it is. Besides those who send the cash should have "a little" more say than someone who has never bought the app. I can say that with every update and every volume added the program gets better and better. I am very pro Mantis. I just don't believe that theres a demon hiding behind my Mantis icon. ;-)

I vote the icon is wonderful!!! Leave it alone! It is very distinguishable and easy to find on the screen!!!
