Ran latest update on iPad and now it won't open

I ran my update apps from the app store and it showed an update for Mantis. I ran the update and now the app opens and immediately closes. Please advise.

Please restore Mantis 4.8.2 from your iTunes backup. We are working with Apple now to figure out what's going on. This version passed our internal tests, passed tests by our beta testers, and was tested and released by Apple. We have no idea how something like this could happen!

I wish it was that easy. I am traveling on vacation with no computer...now without my portable Bible.
